Summary

This position is for work in the Infectious Disease Research Laboratory at Texas Children's Hospital. The laboratory focus is on longitudinal surveillance studies on Gram positive organisms and main responsibilities will pertain to a large multicenter study. The laboratory cultures, isolates, and characterizes bacteria using biochemical, molecular and serotyping methods and also performs antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Duties will involve some of the above mentioned methods, data entry and quality control.

Job Duties
-Assists with laboratory work ,data, and quality control documentation for clinical studies.
-Accepts, documents and freezes shipments.
-Performs clinical microbiology tests, monitors quality control measures.
-Enters research data into the database. 
-Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
-No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
-Knowledge of medical terminology and prior clinical research experience is desired.
-Experience with microbiology techniques, and quality control procedures is a plus.
-Has experience with software programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
-Has strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
