Position Description

This position reports directly to the VP of Business Operations and is primarily in-person at either Paoli, IN or Greenwood, SC, with some regional travel required across our contiguous territory. As DOT Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring corporate DOT compliance and working directly with drivers to support compliance with hours of service, vehicle maintenance, safe operation, and proper documentation. You will play a critical role in supporting operational directors, managers, and drivers by ensuring the fleet safety and compliance program is effective and fully aligned with FMCSA regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership and direction to implement, administer, and monitor DOT policies, procedures, and best practices. Oversee the DOT driver qualification program to ensure compliance for CDL and medical card holders. Manage the Motive GPS system and provide administrative oversight of company driving policies and procedures. Ensure GPS transponders are properly installed and functioning on all trucks and trailers. Plan, organize, and deliver DOT/Fleet Safety classroom trainings as requested. Oversee Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT), KYU, and IFTA tax filings to ensure timely quarterly payment. Partner with Fleet/Shop leadership to address DOT and fleet issues, collaborating on solutions. Review and address all Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs) involving fleet vehicles, analyze data for trends, and develop training/programs to reduce risk. Serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Administer the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. Act as a liaison with managers, directors, and regional leadership on DOT and fleet safety matters. Monitor GPS driving complaints daily and ensure field management addresses them appropriately. Coordinate CDL driver training with third-party vendors as needed. Supervise the DOT Compliance Sr. Coordinator role. Conduct road tests and corrective driving exams as required.

Position Requirements

Prior professional experience in DOT compliance and enforcement preferred. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to drivers and vehicles preferred. Working knowledge of applicable state laws in the assigned area preferred. Ability to guide and train field employees on DOT compliance and fleet safety. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport across teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Ability to handle confidential employee information (licenses, medical certifications, etc.) with discretion. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Comfortable presenting in group settings. Willingness to travel as needed. Ability to report in person weekly to Paoli, IN or Greenwood, SC.
