About the Role:
The Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of manufacturing equipment within our steel production facility. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems, including pumps, boilers, and conveyor systems. The ultimate goal is to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment for all employees. The Maintenance Mechanic will also be involved in the installation of new equipment and systems, ensuring they meet operational standards. By effectively managing maintenance tasks, this role directly contributes to the overall productivity and success of the manufacturing process.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Heavy industry or manufacturing required Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in a heavy industrial setting is required. Good corrected vision and hearing ability Must be able to walk, climb, kneel, reach, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs Must be able to read a tape measure
Preferred Qualifications:
Steel Manufacturing Industry Specific experience with overhead cranes, mobile equipment, and large stationary equipment Exposure to and/or experience with fundamental machining operations is a plus
Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting Repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Dedication to working safely Repair overhead cranes, large stationary machinery, and mobile equipment Use precision instrumentation toward the completion of tasks including micrometers, calipers, and laser alignment tools preferred Find root cause of breakdown and repair by utilizing strong problem solving skills
