Position Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all plant equipment and facilities. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime and supporting production goals in a heavy industrial steel manufacturing environment.
We are looking for Supervisors for both 2nd and 3rd Shifts
Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 per year + OT and Quarterly Bonuses
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance personnel, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation technicians. Schedule and assign work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and repair activities to minimize equipment downtime. Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all plant machinery, including furnaces, rolling mills, cranes, conveyors, and hydraulic systems. Monitor the condition of equipment and initiate corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime. Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards; lead safety meetings and enforce safety practices. Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to support equipment upgrades and process improvements. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports using CMMS or other tracking systems. Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of tools, parts, and services. Provide hands-on technical support and mentorship to maintenance staff. Participate in hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining maintenance personnel.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, or electrical engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience. Strong knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, PLCs, and electrical systems. Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a steel plant environment (heat, noise, dust). Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work off-shifts, weekends, or respond to emergencies as needed.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis). Background in lean manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices.
