Part-time (Minimum of 25 hours per week)

Results Statement: I am accountable for producing the following results:

The Accounting Specialist supports Clarity's financial operations by performing a variety of accounting duties to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing bank reconciliations, recording financial transactions, and maintaining financial records. The Accounting Specialist also prepares financial reports and deposits, while managing the processing of invoices, vendor payments, and customer payments in alignment with organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

1. Ensure that donations and other incoming deposits are processed accurately and timely

a. Perform weekly cash management duties, by completing bank deposits (enter DP/QB) and posting of cash to the account's receivable ledger

2. Research, review, and process the following items through Donor Perfect or other utilized programs: one-time gifts, grants, matching gift donations, and checks

3. Review, process, and confirm information on DP for various donor requests which includes inputting new accounts, new pledges, making account corrections, identify duplicate accounts needing to be merged, and correcting miscoded pledges

4. Pull 3rd party donation reports & research/entry/receipting

5. Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely vendor payments.

6. Generate and record accounts receivable transactions, monitor balances, and ensure timely collection of customer payments.

7. Prepare, verify, and record bank deposits.

8. Complete monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.

9. Record financial transactions in the general ledger and maintain accurate documentation.

10. Prepare routine financial reports for review by the Senior Staff Accountant.

11. Manage vendor and customer records, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.

12. Assist in the preparation of information for audits, annual budgeting, and other financial projects.

13. Support the Senior Staff Accountant and Finance Department in maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Essential Skills 1. Associate's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of three (3) years of A/R experience, customer service, with a concentration on organization, coordination, and performance of duties at a responsible level. 2. Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices3. Proficiency in accounting software - QuickBooks4. Strong attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to convey information effectively. Provide others with a clear understanding of information.6. Listen actively. Paying attention to what donors say, how they say it, and what they don't say. 7. Ability to answer phones, maintain accurate correspondence and field/answer or direct all routine and non-routine questions to the right person to prevent unnecessary transferring.8. Responsible, self-initiating, and focused, with proven ability to work independently and also collaboratively in a team-based decision making environment.9. Use keyboard, mouse, 10-key calculator, and other office equipment with proficiency. Comprehensive knowledge of PC applications: Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to pass a pre-employment PC skills test. 10. Must be able to work additional hours to assist with special projects as assigned by the Staff Accountant or CEO.
Essential Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include: sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time; operating office equipment; and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Visual Acuity; ability to see and hear within normal parameters, must use hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse; operate equipment or controls; reach above shoulder heights, below the waist; or lift to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required.

Compensation details: 19.5-23.5 Hourly Wage
