SEND Tutor - West London

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate SEND Tutor to support students with complex Special Educational Needs in West London. This part-time role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference by creating a positive, engaging, and responsive learning environment tailored to individual needs.

Location: West London

Hours: 20 per week (Monday to Friday, 4 hours per day)

Pay: GBP30-GBP35 per hour

The Role
As a SEND Tutor, you will be delivering a differentiated curriculum to support a young learner with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working alongside a support worker, you will provide bespoke educational sessions both at home and within familiar SEN settings. Your role will include lesson planning, feedback, and collaboration with parents and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure consistent, holistic support.

Key Responsibilities of an SEND tutor:

Deliver core subject learning through a personalised, flexible approach

Support emotional regulation by creating a calm and safe learning space
*

Encourage independence while offering reassurance when needed
*

Build strong, trusting relationships and attune to the learner's pace and preferences
*

Use alternative communication methods (e.g. Makaton, visual timetables, symbols, PECS)
*

Support life skills, literacy, and social development alongside academic progress
*

Recognise sensory and emotional triggers and adapt approaches accordingly
*

Accompany the student to safe and familiar places that enhance wellbeing and learning

Essential Qualities:

Proven experience working with autistic children or young people with complex SEN
*

Ability to differentiate lessons to meet individual needs
*

Knowledge of SEMH strategies (desirable but not essential)
*

Experience with AAC, Makaton, or PECS
*

Flexible, patient, and empathetic approach
*

Ability to travel to the student's home in West London
